Abbeyfield Week always takes place in June and this is when we host our annual Octagon Garden Party for residents and their friends and families. This year we were blessed with glorious weather – so good in fact, that we had to beg, borrow and steal lots of umbrellas, to provide enough shade from the fierce sun!

Between 60 and 70 people, including Abbeyfield staff and ex volunteers, were treated to a gorgeous cream tea, featuring a selection of sandwiches, plus of course, homemade scones with cream and jam.

Entertainment was provided by the lovely Hannah, who sang a number of classics from the fifties and sixties, as well as some sing-along crowd pleasers. The obligatory residents fund raffle worked out very fairly, with prizes including some nice framed prints, being well distributed among guests. All in all, it was a delightful afternoon which managed to raise over £300 towards future resident outings.
