This month we once again made use of our accessible transport to take eight residents on a jaunt to Altons Garden Centre in Wickford. We arrived in time to enjoy lunch in Digby’s Restaurant, where they were very accommodating in seating us all together. The extensive menu features a range of sandwiches, paninis and hot food options, such as ham, egg and chips, or sausage and mash.

Everyone tucked in enthusiastically when the food arrived and afterwards, suitably fortified, residents browsed the many departments. Given that Altons is the largest garden centre in Essex, there was plenty to see! From beautiful displays of plants and flowers, garden furniture, clothing and accessories, to gorgeous gifts, knick knacks, candles and other homewares.

After that we headed home, but not before several residents had purchased pot plants to add a touch of greenery and colour to their rooms, as we head into the winter months.
